  • Lee McCray - 6th Grade Boys' Coach

    Sport: Basketball

    Favorite Verse:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (‭Psalm‬ ‭23‬:‭1-6‬ ESV)

    Experience:
    Has coached for 30+ years.

    Personal Fact:
Married for 14 years to Melanie McCray. Works at Shands Rehab for 26 years. Lives in High Spring FL.

    Why I love to coach:
Love to share my Knowledge of the game to kids who want to be the best on and off the court. The game is fun and very exciting to watch and play. My best take away from the game is to build your faith on the Rock and it will stand. Don't build it on the game or anything else. Because when the storm comes it will not stand. God Bless

The one thing I would like to be remembered for would be trying to find the good in any situation.

    Why I love to coach:
That's important to me! To get our players to try and find something good and the opportunity to learn from any situation. I love coaching and seeing what a impact that can make with our youth! I also love coaching because I get to see leaders emerge and it's fun to watch a team come together to accomplish a goal. Best part about the opportunity to coach would be watching us all grow together to accomplish a purpose together!

Adam Langston - 6th Grade Boys' Assistant Coach

    Sport: Basketball

    Favorite Verse:
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

    Experience:
I've coached multiple youth teams and helped coach in many camps, academies, etc. I have coached for last 4 years with our Upward Teams.

    Personal Fact:
I been married for 5 years. I work at Westside Baptist Church doing Recreation Ministry and I've been there about 6 years. I love to play a variety of sports competitively, as well as, coach them.

    Why I love to coach:
I love to coach because I want to be apart of enhancing a kid's life. Kids need positive role models, and I want to be one of those people in their lives. It's great to be able to see a kid develop athletically, but it's far more rewarding to see them grow spiritually. I love being able to use sports as a means to share the Gospel.
